The Shape of Things : Artwork 7

A single wandering line builds a tall vertical composition from the ground up, enclosing four flat graphic zones as it goes. One is generous and vertical, one is wide and expansive, and two others sit in deliberate scale contrast that gives the piece its sense of internal argument. The result feels totemic, like something that has always stood in that spot and has no plans to move. The scale play between the forms is not accidental. It applies the Constructivist principle that size communicates importance, and importance communicates meaning, without needing anything else to say so. This piece was made for tall narrow walls, staircase landings, and entryways where the first thing people see needs to count.
