Cairn

The low one, and the oldest idea in the collection. Long before anyone built anything, people marked a place by stacking stones on each other and walking away. Closed forms gather tight to the plate here with open frames driven in between them at angles, so the work spreads outward instead of climbing. One form is lifted at the back on an empty frame, and that single act of levitation is what stops the group reading as a pile. Because it sits below the eye it is met in passing rather than approached, which changes what it asks of a room. It takes the centre of a console or a ledge and wants clearance on either side — anything set beside it becomes clutter, and that is the intention. In a space already carrying a lot, this one works by taking things away.
