Symbols of Reverence — Ritual & Devotion : Artwork 14

Shiva in the Rudra Tandava — the fierce dance of destruction and transformation in which the body is all urgency and force, the trishul extended, the hair flying, the posture mid-lunge rather than the stable raised-foot balance of the classical Ananda Tandava form. The Om symbol at the centre of the chest anchors the composition and reminds the viewer that the violence of the dance is not random: it is the necessary destruction that makes space for what comes next. In the Shiva Purana, the Tandava ends epochs — it is not frightening but liberating, not loss but clearing.
