Sound & Silence : Artwork 7
A face in three-quarter profile, her hair dissolving entirely into undulating wave lines embedded with musical notes — the boundary between self and sound completely erased. The face is solid cutwork; the surrounding wave-hair is the active perforated field through which the wall shows. The composition references the psychological phenomenon of musical entrainment — the documented process by which the human nervous system synchronises with external sound, the body literally becoming the music it hears. This is the most conceptually ambitious piece in the collection: not a musician, not an instrument, but a person who has been changed by listening. The oval wave-field gives it a natural tondo quality without a formal border. For a bedroom, a recording studio, or any private space where the idea of being fully absorbed by sound is the atmosphere the room is built to hold.
