Sound & Silence : Artwork 6
A musical stave with notation — treble clef, quavers, rests — rendered not as a flat line but as a wide undulating ribbon, the staff lines separating and rejoining as the form rises and falls across the full width of the composition. Music made spatial. The piece references the 18th-century discovery of Chladni figures: sound frequencies create precise geometric patterns in physical matter, which was the first scientific proof that sound has visible shape. As an abstract horizontal form emerging from the head of a figure and no instrument, this is the most visually symbolic piece in the collection — suited to a wide wall above a sofa, a dining room, or any long horizontal span where a non-figurative but deeply resonant form is the right choice.
