Happy Days : Artwork 2

This tree did not grow from seeds. It grew from summer. The entire canopy is built from densely packed pill-shaped and rounded lollipop forms, organic units that interlock and overlap across the crown in shifting densities, so some areas feel full and bursting while others breathe a little more. The packing variation creates a natural tonal depth across the surface that makes the piece feel alive rather than flat. Below it all, a single solid trunk holds the whole thing up with a straightforwardness that is almost funny given how exuberant everything above it is. Rooted in the Pop Art tradition of elevating everyday joyful objects into something monumental, this is a tree you would actually want in your home.
