Body in Motion : Artwork 2

A female dancer silhouetted against a large yellow moon disc, set within an arched panel with a city skyline rendered in perforated relief below. The arched frame references the mihrab — the architectural niche that in Islamic tradition frames the direction of the sacred — which gives the figure a monumental, consecrated quality that a rectangular frame would not achieve. The contrast between the organic silhouette and the grid-perforated buildings creates a deliberate figure-ground tension: the human form as the only thing in the composition that is not geometric, not constructed, not measured. A defining piece for an arched alcove, a living room feature wall, or a double-height stairwell.
