Arabesque Thresholds : Artwork 10
A Muqarna inspired field built outward from a central ten-pointed star — the same tiling ratio used by the anonymous master craftsmen of fourteenth-century Marinid Morocco on the walls of the Bou Inania and Attarine madrasas in Fez. The density at centre releases into open petal forms at the edges; the pattern does not stop, it relaxes. The ten-pointed star is geometrically more complex than the eight-pointed — it requires a more sophisticated proportional construction and cannot be achieved by simple compass rotation. At scale, the field creates an optical weight at the centre that draws the eye inward and holds it there.
